GRAND JUNCTION — James D. Cunningham, 63, died June 15, 2004, at his home, here. He was born in Del Norte to Harold and Aline Ellis Cunningham and was a fourth generation rancher on the historical Slane Ranch west of Saguache.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1967, serving with the Third Division in Viet Nam. After becoming disabled, he left the ranch and moved to Grand Junction, where he and his wife, Janice, had a business reproducing ancient petroglyphs, antler lamps and other items, sold under the name of “Little Park Stone Images.” Jim was known as a kind and generous man with a great smile. He was respected by many and will be greatly missed.

His parents, his first wife, Paula Stehwein and his best friend, Allan Colwell, preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, Janice, of the family home, he is survived by one sister, Kathy (Frank) Hindes; daughters, Cindy (Marty) Golden, Kimala Lynn and Jill Cunningham; stepson, Brian (Kay) Wood; grandsons, Dylan E. Daniel, Cody Austin and Kaden Cunningham; and several nephews.

Cremation has taken place and Jim requested no services be held. A private family memorial will take place later. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 60307, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
