M. ANDREA LUJAN, 101 By MONTE VISTA — M. Andrea Lujan, 101, died under Hospice care July 26, 2005, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Monte Vista.

Andrea was born May 29, 1904 in Los Valdezes to Pedro and Sofia Martinez Trujillo, and married Eliseo Tito Lujan on Aug. 8, 1943, in Monte Vista.

She was the granddaughter of Teofilo and Andrellita Lucero Trujillo, founders of the Medano Ranch near the Sand Dunes, whose home was burned to the ground on the coldest night of the year in January 1902 by cattleman when Teofilo started raising sheep. Her father’s homestead is now a Colorado Historical Site on the Medano. Andrea loved to travel and, at age 97, went motor-homing with her daughter and son-in-law across country, even visiting Elvis Presley’s mansion. She also loved to read and garden and was especially proud of the poppies that took her four years to get started. Andrea was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Monte Vista. She will be remembered for all the joy, laughter and kindness she brought into people’s lives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one daughter, Ramona Lujan; and 15 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Fredrico (Felez) Trujillo of San Luis, Julian (Bersabel) Trujillo of Monte Vista, Frutoso (DonaCiana) Trujillo of Alamosa, Carlos Trujillo of Alamosa, Teofilo (Bersabel) Trujillo of Pueblo, Elena (Pete) Monacelli of Monte Vista, Estella (Carlos) Valdez of Los Valdezes, Juan (Lydia) Trujillo of Monte Vista, Casilda (Tobias) Espinosa of Albuquerque, N.M., Pedro Trujillo of Los Valdezes, Margarita Trujillo of Los Valdezes, Amadeo Trujillo of Los Valdezes, Epifaño (Mary) Trujillo of Portland, Ore., Casilda Trujillo of Los Valdezes and Epifaña (Fred) Martinez of Monte Vista. Survivors include one son, Armenio (Louise) Lujan and one daughter, Maria Tita (Royce) Causby; three grandchildren, Jerry Paul Sr. (Kristen) Causby of Virginia Beach, Va., Andrea (Paul) Plumeau of Front Royal, Va. and Sophia Helena Causby of Monte Vista; six great-grandchildren, Jerry Paul Causby Jr. and LeAnne Causby of Virginia Beach, Va., Danielle and Patrick Causby of Front Royal, Va., Christopher Causby of Virginia Beach, Va. and Cameron Causby of Monte Vista; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at St. Joseph Church in Monte Vista. A Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the same church, with burial following in the Monte Vista Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made in her memory to Hospice Del Valle. Arrangements are by Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
